Inspiration: “I wanted the collection to feel happy, vibrant and erotically charged” Joseph Altuzarra said of his S/S 17 presentation. From the music to the silhouettes, this was indeed a collection with a provocative and flirty appeal that held it’s audience in a joyful embrace. Altuzarra wanted to catch the rebellious and youthful spirit of David Lynch’s 1990 film 'Wild at Heart' with the characters carefree and fun loving attitude. With this modern take on romance, playful dresses were created with swathes of frills and flounces, cut in python prints, embellished with sparkling cherries or edged and trimmed with red gingham. There was so much to choose from; neat tailored blazers in an exotic print teamed with pencil skirts and little bras edged in frills, even the cropped cargo jackets felt seductive and tantalizing cut in cotton gabardine and coloured in a rich olive green. Silky shirtdresses in pale blue grounded the flamboyant pieces while a trench coat in python was adorned with cherry motifs. A playful, whimsical and desirable presentation. – Lizzy Bowring
